UNSW Australia Flip system

UNSW Australia
UNSW Australia | Art & Design asked JND to design an interface for an online content collation and dissemination system, called Flip. The system allows students to upload, find, package and tag resources to a central library. The system also allows teachers to analyse how those resources are being used. We worked with the client on project analysis, UI design, through to branded digital templates and style tiles.
What we did:
- – UI design
- – Strategy
- – Digital templates

They really take the time to understand your project.
JND took the time to really understand the project - sitting down with me and undergoing analysis of the aims and needs of the project. This process really helped my own thinking about the project, and helped to sharpen its effectiveness. The brief required that the university style guide be used as the basis for the aesthetic of the UI. JND was able to still produce something fresh and creative from a restrictive style palette. The design work for the UI exceeded my expectations both from visual and functional perspectives, and was clean, contemporary and engaging. The brief required that the university style guide be used as the basis for the aesthetic of the UI.

Our Process
The process was a collaborative. We workshopped visuals to illustrate the scope of the project that were then used to brief the coding agencies. While they are prototyping the first iteration of the system, we designed a series of UI concepts. Once narrowed down by the client, these were then finessed into a style tile document that the digital agency could use to create the look of the system.
